History of Simlipal National Park
Earlier, this place was majorly a hunting ground for the people who belonged to royalty. It was only in 1956, that this place was considered a properly designated Tiger Reserve. And in 1979, it was officially declared as a wildlife sanctuary.
In 1980, the state government of Odisha proposed that the 303 square kilometers of the sanctuary be considered as a national park. By 1994, the sanctuary was granted the status of a biosphere reserve. Coming on to 2009, even UNESCO added this park to its list of Biosphere Reserves.

By Air
The nearest airport is the Bhubaneshwar Airport located at a distance of around 270 km. Apart from this airport, you can also consider deboarding at Kolkata Airport and then take a cab or a bus to reach here.
By Train
The nearest railway station is the Balasore station. After you deboard at the station, you will need to further cover the remaining distance via some means of public transport like a cab.
By Road
