The Blue Flag certificate is given to those beaches that are safe, clean, and environmentally friendly.

If you are low on budget and want to dive into the ocean then Tarkarli Beach is the palace for you in South Maharashtra. This beach has one of the best coral reefs in India. This area is not so known amongst tourists and hence, it is one of the most secluded beaches on the west coast. It has many simple homestays to accommodate visitors right on the beach. Situated near the city of Trivandrum, Kovalam is one of the most developed beaches in Kerala. The beach is made up of two coves, Lighthouse and Hawa. With its promenade lined with open-air restaurants, Lighthouse cove is the biggest of the two. Visitors can climb up the lighthouse to treat themselves to a gorgeous view of the sunset. Kovalam Beach also offers water activities like surfing and other water sports.
