The Taj Mahal, a magnificent white marble mausoleum located in Agra, India, was built during the Mughal Empire. Construction of the Taj Mahal began in 1632 and was completed in 1648. The main mausoleum was finished in 1648, while additional structures and the surrounding gardens and complex were completed later, around 1653. The Taj Mahal was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, who had passed away during childbirth. It is widely regarded as one of the most iconic examples of Mughal architecture and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
