The Bhagirathi and Alaknanda are two of the primary headstreams of the Ganges (Ganga) River. They converge at a place called Devprayag in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. At Devprayag, the two rivers meet and merge to form the Ganges, which then continues its journey downstream through northern India. Devprayag is not only a significant geographical confluence but also holds religious and spiritual importance for Hindus, and it is a popular pilgrimage site.
