With the ongoing pandemic, governments and leaders of all the countries are trying to come out with newer ways to align themselves with the ‘new normal’ of travelling.
Lately, a new type of passport namely ‘coronavirus passport’ has been proposed in the UK, and if approved can put an end to the travel woes of Britons helping them avoid the stringent rules and measures of quarantine. In fact, there was a trial run scheduled for it this Wednesday.
This new ‘COVID Passport’ will allow the travellers to document and upload their COVID-19 status on a website 72 hours prior to their departure making the whole travel experience hassle-free. The news has even left countries like the USA impressed and intrigued at the same time.
For now, the whole operation will be tested on a flight scheduled between London and New York (Newark) and the passengers of United Airlines and Cathay Pacific flights will be able to benefit from it.
The Commons Project which is behind this whole concept stated, ‘‘coronavirus passport will allow safer airline and cross border travel by giving both travellers and governments confidence in each traveller's verified COVID-19 status.’’ To further expand this vision, the Commons Project is also planning to involve several other countries into this in the coming three months.
