A quaint old town, Abbott Mount is located in the Kali Kumaon region of Champawat district, Uttarakhand. Here, one can witness the charm of a bygone British colonial era through a marvellous church and 13 isolated cottages across the hill.
Established during the early 20th century by a British businessman - John Harold Abbott, Abbott Mount is a place that remains more or less unchanged. Perched at an elevation of 7000 ft. above sea level, it offers ravishing views of the snow-clad Himalayas and tranquil surroundings, bringing peace as birds chirp through the wispy breeze.
The place experiences excellent weather almost throughout the year, making it ideal for activities like trekking, angling, bird watching and photography. Enriched in flora & fauna and bound by thick forests of pine and deodars, Abbott Mount is a must-visit - away from the screeching noises of the city.
The Abbot Mount of Champawat in Uttarakhand is the place that holds moderate weather in summer but is extremely foggy during winters. So it's better, you visit here during summer or fall. Any time between March to October is ideal.

1. Mayawati Ashram
Mayawati Ashram is a popular nearby place to visit. It is situated at an altitude of1, 940mts above sea level. Mayawati Ashram is popular amongst the spiritualists. Swami Vivekananda also shifted the publication office of ‘Prabuddh Bharat’ from Madras to here. The Ashram also provides board and lodgings to the visitors on their requests. Mayawati Ashram also has a library and a small museum to spend your time in.
2. Lohaghat
Lohaghat is a popular destination in the Kumaon region situated 8km from Abbott mount at an elevation of 1745mts above sea level. Lohaghat holds great historical and mythological importance and it is situated on the banks of Lohawati River. During summers the area is covered with ‘Burans’ Rhododendron, the state flower of Uttarakhand.
3. Vanasur Ka Kila
It is situated at an altitude of 1,859mts above sea level. Vanasur ka Kila is located 9kms from Lohaghat of which you have to cover 7kms by bus or taxi and the rest 2km on foot. It is believed that this place was the capital of demon Vanasur, who was defeated by Lord Krishna in a face to face battle.
4. Pancheshwar
Pancheshwar is famous for the Temple of Chaumu, its fair and the sacred confluence. Chaumu is worshipped as a protector of animals with bells and milk as its offerings. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva at Pancheshwar.
