It was founded in 1621 as a capital by Raja Karan Prakash and it is said that this hilltown derived its name from a sage called Nahar who used to live at the same site where this town stands today. As per another legend, Nahan got its name from an incident where the king was on a hunt to kill a lion and was halted by a saint called Baba Banwari Das who stopped the king yelling ‘Nahar’ which means 'don't kill'. The beautiful hilltown is now dotted with temples, verdant gardens, and a manmade lake.

History of Nahan
Nahan was founded by Karam Parkash in 1621 AD who ruled the region from 1616 to 1630 AD. Later, Karam Parkash became a spiritual disciple of renowned sage Baba Banwari Dass whose descendants still hold the temple of Jagan-Nath at Nahan.

This theme park is dedicated to life science and fossils. Approximately 21 kilometers away from Nahan, Suketi Fossil Park is a unique and the first one of its kind in Asia that was established on the actual site of fossil discovery.
3. Jaitak Fort
Situated on the top of Jaitak Hills, this fort was built in 1810 by Gurkha leader Ranjor Singh Thapa. Situated at a distance of 25 kilometers from Nahan, Jaitak Fort was made by using the material recovered from the Nahan fort after it was ransacked and destroyed.
4. Churdhar Peak
A treat for rock climbing and trekking lovers, Churdhar Peak is situated at a height of 3650 meters above sea level and is a 50 kilometers long trek. Surrounded by lush forests and fields, you can reach Churdhar Peak from Sangrah, Dadahu, Gandhuri, Bhawal, and Nauhra.
5. Dhaula Kuan
