History of Sukhna Lake
It is a rainfed lake that was created in 1958. This 3 square kilometers spread Sukhna lake was created by Le Corbusier, a well-known Swiss-French architect, and P L Varma a Chief Engineer.
Locals claim that Le Corbusier before the construction of the lake decided that the movement of motorboats and vehicles will be prohibited to maintain the serenity around the lake. A seasonal flowing Sukhna Choe (stream) was diverted in order to restrict the entry of silt flowing down from the hills into the lake.
The lake has been one of the main attractions of the city now where people love to spend time amid a surreal ambiance.
