History of Tarn Taran Sahib
Tarn Taran Sahib came under the Bhangi Sikh dynasty from 1716 to 1810 when this region was ruled by rulers of the Dhillon clan. In 1947, after the independence of India, Tarn Taran was among the few districts in Punjab that had a majority of the Sikh population.
By the 1980s, when the Khalistan movement was at its peak, Tarn Taran was declared the capital of Khalistan (the proposed Sikh nation). Eventually, the movement was suppressed and peace was restored in the state.
Later in 2006, Tarn Taran was given the status of a district and it became the 19th district of Punjab. The name Tarn Taran was given to the Sarovar in the Gurudwara which is known to be the largest in any gurudwara in Punjab. Talking about its meaning; Tarn Taran means a boat that takes one across the ocean of existence.

Located in the Harmandir Sahib complex in Amritsar, this is one of the Five Takhts of the Sikhs and is considered the most sacred site among the devotees.
2. Dukh Bhanjani Ber Tree
The Dukh Bhanjani Beri Tree is an old jujube tree and is believed to have miraculous powers. This tree is located in the Golden Temple complex and stands on the eastern side of the Amrit Sarovar.
3. Shree Durgiana Mandir
Being a very important religious site, this place holds a very significant spiritual charm. It is located a few yards away from the Amritsar railway station at a distance of around 1.5 km from the local bus stand. The very idea that a temple should be standing here had come from a man named Gur Shai Mal Kapoor who was known to be a great visionary and religious person. The temple looks similar to the Golden Temple but is dedicated to Goddess Durga.
4. Mandir Mata Lal Devi
The Mata Lal Devi Temple is considered a sacred Hindu temple dedicated to a 20th-century bespectacled female saint known by the name of Lal Devi. An interesting belief about the temple is that if any childless couple offers prayer here, they are blessed with a child.
