Though people visiting the festival do not often get to see this sight since it happens before the locals when they carry the procession of the idols of God’s in palanquins. It is said that those palanquins with the idols of the Gods cannot be moved or stopped without the will of the Gods. Earlier, people thought they are just mere tales spun but the fact is fact. Many have tried moving the idols after they are kept for resting but they do not move, come whatever may, until the Gods want to move. No force, truck or anything can make them move forward for the procession. It may not sound that real, but the sight is surreal and absolutely divine. Other than this when the God’s are brought from different directions on the shoulders of the people when they reach a common point the Gods leave the shoulders and meet and hug each other in the air which is again unbelievable. The entire vision is astonishing, and it will leave you there with mouth’s open.

The basic significance and reason for celebrating Dussehra is the victory of good over evil and to show the same Ravana is burnt everywhere in the nation, Kullu is different here as well. Surprisingly, Kullu does not celebrate the festival by burning Ravana’s statue, it does it with utmost simplicity and by only pulling the Raths in Dhalpar ground. Some more exciting facts about the fiesta include the playing of Tambola with a huge crowd. One shall not believe but reportedly in the year gone by the bid of Tambola was as much as 41 lakh rupees. There is a prize of a car or a bike for the winner as well. There is much more to explore there. The festival continues for 7 long days and the ground of Dhalpur is covered with stalls all around.
