1. Indian Railways is planning to start special trains to facilitate travel to the Char Dham, covering Jagannath Puri, Badrinath, Dwarkadhish, and Rameshwaram.
The decision was taken after witnessing a decline in the number of cases of Coronavirus across the country. As per the sources, Indian Railways is all set to launch a special train to cater to another popular special Dekho Apna Desh Deluxe AC tourist train to cover the pilgrimage Chardham circuit after the success of the Shri Ramayana Yatra train that catered for the Ramayana circuit.
2. The Maldives and Germany are all set to lift the flight ban on flights coming from India. Germany has also reopened its borders to five countries that were badly hit by the Delta strain. These five countries are India, Nepal, Russia, UK, and Portugal. Both Maldives and Germany have also allowed non-essential travel from India.
Likewise, the Maldives is going to allow flights to enter the country from India and other South Asian countries from July 15. IndiGo First and Go First have already announced their flight plans between the two countries.
3. The government of Kerala has eased down on travel restrictions that were the norm until now. The state has recently announced that tourism in the state will get some relaxations, which includes restaurants and hotels in Kerala. This brings a much-needed respite to the restaurateurs, hoteliers, their employees, and other stakeholders.
The Kerala state government has divided the Local Self Government areas into four different categories. This has been done after seeing a decline in the Covid Test Positivity Rate, and the new guidelines have been issued on the basis of the same. The relaxations have been announced in those regions where the state average positivity rate is below 5 percent (Category A), and in Local Self Government areas (Category B) where the positivity rate is below 10 percent.
4. The Central Railway is going to start 72 special trains between Sawantwadi Road and Ratnagiri, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Panvel, to ease the crowding in Mumbai during Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Maharashtra.
As per the reports, these 72 special trains will include 11 sleeper classes, six second-class seating, one AC-2 tier cum AC-3 tier, and four AC-3 tiers. Bookings for these special trains will start from 8th July, which will include special charges. Tickets can be booked through the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website as well as at all Passenger Railway System (PRS) centers.
