Christian Andersen rightly said, “To move, to breathe, to fly, to float! To gain all while you give, to roam the roads of lands remote; to travel is to live.” Rutted in all the menace and chaotic COVID-19 stress, this quote sounds so relatable. After having spent almost half a year confined in our concrete nests, all the backpackers and travel junkies are ready to hit the road again.
Finally getting closer to the year-end, September’ 2020 seems to bring some luck. Travel restrictions across India are gradually being lifted according to the SOP’s set by the centre and state governments. Several states have opened their borders in the past few weeks and Devbhumi Uttarakhand is also inviting tourists to bask once again in the lap of bounty nature.
The pandemic definitely has crumbled many sectors but it has brought good fortune to Uttarakhand as many filmmakers in India are setting eyes on pristine locations in the hill state for film shoots. ‘The biggest USP of the state is its picturesque locales and when a film is shot at these locations, they turn into famous tourist spots’, says Anuj Nautiyal. There is always a bright side of every situation, and while we all are counting to travel again, the Tourism sector in Uttrakhand is already cashing on the natural marvels of the state.
Uttarakhand Government has started an initiative, Tourist Incentive Coupon under which every tourist is eligible to get a coupon of INR 1000 for lodging at any holiday place within the territory of the state. This offer would be applicable for making a booking in homestays or hotels for a minimum of 3 days. Now that’s a really positive way with which travel destinations in Uttrakhand can bank on a spurt in footfall.
1. The cap of 2000 visitors a day has now been lifted. It is one of the significant curbs that will not restrict the travellers intending to visit Uttarakhand.
2. There is no restriction on tourists with negative Covid-19 reports.
3. Famous tourist spots such as Mussoorie and Nainital are now reckoned for the shooting of films, ads, documentaries, etc. These may soon receive a good number of tourists again.
4. The temples will be opened between 7 am and 8 pm. The state has already started its popular Char Dham Yatra pilgrimage but restricting it for the residents of Uttarakhand.
5. Social congregations at cultural, political, religious, and sports events can be marked by 100 people w.e.f. 21st September with basic norms such as wearing masks, social distancing, thermal screening, sanitization, etc.
6. Open-air theatres will soon be getting a green signal from 21st September.
1. All the travellers visiting Uttarakhand will have to register on the Dehradun Smart City website.
2. Travellers will be expected to produce negative Covid-19 reports (not older than 72 hours) when they arrive in the state.
3. All the travellers are expected to have the Arogya Setu app downloaded on their phones.
