Faridabad is the eighth fastest growing city in the world and the third in India. It is the most populous city and the Industrial capital of Haryana. On 15 August 1979, Faridabad was declared as an independent district, one of the 22 districts of Haryana, Faridabad is the district headquarters which covers the region of Faridabad, Nuh and Palwal. It has been selected as one of the hundred Indian cities that has to be converted into smart cities under Smart Cities Mission by the Ministry of Urban Development.
Faridabad being a major Industrial hub of Haryana boasts to be the home to many renowned large-scale companies of India like Yamaha Motors, Havells India, Larsen and Tubro, Escorts Limited, Whirlpool India and many more. Manufacturing of tractors, motorcycles, tires, shoes, garments are its primary industries while it is also famous for Henna production in the agricultural sector.
Founded by Sheikh Farid in the year 1607, the city was named after his name by the Government of India. Faridabad was inhabited because of him and the ruins of his tomb can still be seen on Talab Road near Gopi Colony in Old Faridabad. He was the treasurer to Mughal emperor Jahangir. King was pleased by him and gave him the town primarily to protect it from invaders since it was the most important route that connected Delhi with Agra. Today the road is known as the Grand Trunk Road, which is a major connecting highway to the states in the north of India.

Every year, craftsmen and artists gather from all corners of India to participate in Surajkund Craft Mela. Celebrated from the 1st February till 15th February, the fair showcases folk traditions, Indian Handicrafts and handlooms. The beauty of India and its rich culture is presented by the artists. Adjacent to the capital you can very well expect the traces of Rajas and Maharajas in the neighbourhood. Raja Nahar Singh Palace, also known as Ballabhgarh Fort which was built by Raja Nahar Singh’s ancestor, Raja Rao Balram in 1739. Every year the famous Kartik Cultural fest is organized here. The fort has been refurbished into a palace with six heritage suites that opens to a magnificent courtyard. It’s beautiful lounge, restaurant with a bar and exquisitely designed architecture makes it the city’s landmark.
Nahar Singh cricket Stadium was built in 1981 by an Indian rebellion, Nahar Singh. Many gripping and glorious matches played in the stadium have made this a historic attraction for cricket lovers.
It is said that the city is named after Baba Farid, who was a famous Sufi saint. It is believed that people have unshaken faith in the shrine and visit the tomb all throughout the year from many parts of the country.
Located just about 7.6 km from the heart of Faridabad, Leisure Valley Park is a favourite picnic spot for nature lovers. Manicured and lush green grass with beautiful landscaping is a perfect escape for the people who wish to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Delhi Metro Violet Line connects Faridabad with Delhi. There are 11 metro stations in Faridabad corridor stretched at the length of 14 km starting from Sarai till Raja Nahar Singh, Ballabhgarh. It is the longest metro corridor of the National Capital Region.
Old Faridabad railway station is the main station of Faridabad. The trains to big cities like Mumbai, Chennai, and Hyderabad are easily accessible from here. New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station is about 25kms away from the local railway station here.
The nearest airport to Faridabad is Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi which is around 35kms from the city. All the domestic and International flights fly from here as it is one of the busiest airports in India.
