Situated in the old Ahmedabad city, the Bhadra Fort was built by Ahmad Shah I in the 14th century. This well-carved ancient treasure reminds us of the stories of the gone era. Another adjacent monument to this fort is the Teen Darwaza. It is also known as the cultural center of the city. It is interesting to know that the name of this fort has been taken from Goddess Bhadra Kali who is also a form of Goddess Laxmi.
Located on the east side of this historical gateway, there lies the Teen Darwaza. It was completed somewhere in the year 1415. There are various myths and legends which have been associated with this place. This gate has also been featured in the logo of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation.
The visit to the monument is free and remains open for all days of the week. The timing to explore the place is from 9 am to 5 pm. The weather of Ahmedabad remains moderate, which makes the place apt to be visited all year round.

History of Bhadra Fort and Teen Darwaza
Sultan Ahmed Shah had built this magnificent fort on the eastern banks of the river Sabarmati. Earlier, it was also known as the Arak Fort. This fort covers a massive area of about 43 acres and consists of about 162 houses along with eight gates. And when in 1817, Ahmedabad was captured by the British, this fort was used as a prison to confine the political prisoners and revolutionaries.
Coming on to the Teen Darwaza, this place was essentially an egress from the Bhadra fort in the eastern direction. This gateway has three arches which lead to a very large enclosure mainly forming an outer courtyard of the palace which was known as the Maidan Shah in the earlier days. The height of these arches is about 25 feet each. Ahmed Shah built them immediately after the foundation of Ahmedabad was completed in the year 1415.
