Constructed in the late 19th century, this museum is famous for having artifacts from the 4th century BC. Specifically dedicated to the Rani of Jhansi, this museum is a fine example that helps us track down the major historical events which happened in and around the Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh. The other name of this museum is the UP Government Museum and is quite a popular tourist attraction in Jhansi.

There is also an exclusive gallery in the museum solely dedicated to the Queen of Jhansi. There are also terracottas, bronzes, manuscripts, paintings, and coins in the museum.

The Jhansi Fort was built by Raja Bir Singh Ju Deo of Orchha on Bangra hill in the town of Balwant Nagar, which is presently known as Jhansi. The cenotaph of Raja Gangadhar Rao was built by the Queen of Jhansi after the death of her husband. It is believed that the reign of Gangadhar Rao lasted for a decade from 1843-1853.
