Mount Abu, the only hill station of Rajasthan, lies in the Aravalli Range in the Sirohi District of the state and is one of the most visited tourist destinations in Rajasthan. Mount Abu is a treasure trove of beauty, culture, and traditions that defines the place and mesmerizes the visitors. In fact, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that it has never sent any tourist unhappy!

Mount Abu was formerly known as Arbudaanchal. Then later, Abu was taken from the old name and was combined with Mount, which resulted in Mount Abu.
According to the locals, the place also finds its mention in the Puranas and the ancient Hindu text, Arbudaranya, which means the Forest of Arbhuda.
As per popular folklore, Mount Abu is the place where a serpent called Arbuda saved the life of Nandi, who was Lord Shiva’s bull. The ancient Hindu texts also state that the hill station was home to many rishi munis and the most popular names among them were sage Vashistha and Vishwamitra.
These are located at a distance of around 3 km from Mt. Abu. Built by Vastupal and Tejpal between the 11th and 13th centuries AD, this place is surrounded by lush greenery. Located at a great height above the surrounding areas, the temples are visited by the Jain devotees from across the country.

This Mount Abu temple is quite famous, among both tourists and locals. It is dedicated to Goddess Durga. The Arbuda Devi Temple is located on a peak of the Aravalis and witnesses a very large number of devotees on an annual basis.

Situated at a distance of 5 km from the hill station, this place is just the right spot for nature lovers. The name of this tank has been kept after its engineer. This place has now turned into a picnic spot and is honestly one of the best places to visit in Mount Abu.

Travelling to Mount Abu via Maharana Pratap Airport (UDR), Udaipur would be quite convenient for you as there are direct daily flights from Delhi and Mumbai to Udaipur. From the airport, one is required to cover another 185 km to reach Mount Abu via taxi or a bus.
The overall connectivity via the rail network is quite good. So, if you are planning to visit Mount Abu via train, then you may get down at the Abu Road Railway Station. From the station, you have to cover approx. 30 km to reach Mount Abu for which you may either hire a taxi or get on a local bus.
The overall connectivity via road is quite good. There are many buses which travel to Mount Abu from different cities. And depending upon your budget you can either take an AC, deluxe, or a semi-deluxe bus. You may also drive down to the hill station in your personal vehicle.
