Mythologically famous, the Triveni Ghat in Rishikesh is the symbol of immense faith amongst Hindu devotees. It is the confluence point of the river Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati. Sitting on the banks of the river will leave you mesmerized with the peaceful atmosphere and divine vibes.

It is also the biggest and most famous ghat in Rishikesh at the banks of the Ganges. Triveni Ghat remains overcrowded with devotees to take ritual baths to get cleansed from their sins. It is believed that the ghat was visited by Lord Krishna when he got hurt by the arrow of Jara – a hunter. Being the most venerated ghat in Rishikesh, Triveni Ghat is even used by devotees to perform the last rites and rituals of their loved ones.

The ghat is famed for the Ganga aarti performed to the chants of Vedic hymns. The sight of oil leaves, filled with Diya and petals, which are released by devotees, floating on the pristine Ganga and the traditional aarti is a sight to behold. On the bank of Triveni Ghat, one can visit the Gita Mandir and Lakshminarayan Temple. Dawn boat ride along the Ganges is a must on a short tour to Triveni Ghat.

Attention all the shopaholics! You will have a great experience while shopping in the Paltan Market. You can get gems, precious and semi-precious stones, knickknacks, clothes, puja items, CDs, and tapes. Also shops for religious goods, Kullu topis, Nehru jackets, kurtas, salwar kameez, and jewelry, bangles on the narrow streets. Pick up simple, painted Ganesh idols, gems, incense, rudraksha beads, religious books, paintings, Natarajas, and statues of almost every deity in the Hindu pantheon. Best Time to Visit Triveni Ghat

It stays pleasant throughout the year. The river Ganga is famous for the grand evening Aarti. One must visit the Triveni Ghat Aarti from 6 pm-7 pm.

How to Reach Triveni Ghat

A sacred, the biggest, and the most popular ghat of Rishikesh, Triveni Ghat lies at the banks of Riven Ganges. There is a belief that a bath to this ghat can cleanse the sins of people therefore one can always see it crowded with the devotees taking ritual baths there. The distance of Triveni Ghat from Chennai is 2392 km, 1638 km from Mumbai, and 243 km from Delhi.

By Air

The closest airport to Rishikesh is Dehradun’s Jolly Grant Airport. It is approximately 35 km away from Triveni Ghat. Thus, you should take a flight to them and once you reach the airport, you can hire a cab or auto-rickshaw to reach the Ghat.

By Train

In the proximity of Triveni Ghat, the railway station of Haridwar is the closest that lies at a distance of 25 km from Rishikesh. After deboarding at the station, you will find any travel conveyance from the station effortless whether it is a bus, auto-rickshaw, and even cab.
