History of Auroville
It was at the annual conference in 1964 that the Sri Aurobindo Society in Pondicherry passed a resolution for the establishment of a city that would be specifically dedicated to the vision of Sri Aurobindo.

The nearest airport is Puducherry Airport (PNY) situated 8-10 km away. Constructed in 1989, the airport has overall good connectivity with other Indian cities. After deboarding at the airport, either you will have to get a cab or any other means of public transportation to reach Auroville.

The nearest railway station is Park Town Station and Guindi Station. After deboarding from the train, you will need to cover the remaining distance by a cab or some other means of public transportation.
By Road
